Gemstone Cuts and Shapes

Princess Cut

Princess Cut

This is a  new and popular cut for gemstones and looks great  because it has the fabulous sparkle we all associate with the round brilliant cut.

One thing to be aware of with Princess Cut gemstones is the added vulnerability of the corners, ensure the setting of the gemstone protects the corners to prevent chipping.

Radiant Cut
Radiant Cut

The radiant cut is also a relatively new cut only invented in 1977. It doesn't have the same vulnerability as the princess cut because it doesn't have such sharp corners.

A low carat well cut radiant gem will sparkle more than a larger carat princess cut gem.
